Meet Lenka!

Our Forest School Lead and Senior Practitioner

How long have you been working at Puss In Boots and what did you do before you came?

I started volunteering to help with forest school once a week, back in 2017. I always say that I was really lucky because although at the time, I didn’t have experience or qualifications, PIB gave me a chance and employed me, and I’ve been growing within the job since then. (Amelia says – actually we were the lucky ones who spotted her talent!)  In 2019 I completed my Level 4 qualification and in 2023 I became Forest School Lead and  senior classroom practitioner.

What’s the most important thing you know now that you didn’t know when you started?

The Little Tricks! How to get children’s attention, also knowing when to step in to help, and when to leave children to solve problems independently.

Tell us what you like about your role at  PIB.

It’s never the same! We have so many different activities, there is so much going on and new exciting things happening every day. Also this isn’t only a job, you are working with the future generations – you can help to  shape children and give them a good base, it’s just super important.

What does Amelia (Head Teacher)  say about Lenka?

Lenka has so many interests and passions, when she’s not at PIB, she’s working with a gardening company – she loves being out in nature. She also dances in a Czech/Slovak dance company. She never stops learning herself – and is even currently learning to sew clothes. I think this is why she brings so much to PIB. Children benefit from her knowledge and her skills, (how many other nurseries have making home grown herbal teas on their curriculum?) but perhaps most importantly Lenka also shares her own drive to learn and to play. Maybe it is this that makes her such a brilliant Early Years teacher.
