Meet Viv!

Our Deputy Manager

How long have you been working at Puss In Boots and what did you do before you came?

It will be 20 years next year! I have been an Early Years Educator for 36 years, I qualified whilst I was working in my first job, at a sports centre creche and went on to work at several nurseries before coming to PIB.

What’s the most important thing you know now that you didn’t know when you started?

That all children are unique, you might have some trusted methods, but they don’t work with every child. Different children need different approaches. .

Tell us what you like about your role at  PIB.

Every day is different and I love watching children’s development, watching them tackle challenges and then be so excited. Today children were learning to use the children’s pincers with ‘spaghetti worms’. They were so excited when they got it!  I love working at PIB because there is a small team so you can bond with your colleagues, you trust your team, and you know you can rely on each other. We know we are all working towards the same goal for the children.

What does Amelia (Head Teacher)  say about Viv?

The team is so lucky to have Viv and her immense experience. We all know that it’s so important to look after the children but Viv reminds me how important it is to look after the staff too. Viv knows where everything is, and if she doesn’t she always seems to be able to find it faster than anyone else. Viv really cares about the nursery, and what I really admire is that although she’s been in Early Years for many years, she’s always keen to embrace new challenges; last year we decided that none of the assessment profiles we had tried were quite right, so we decided to write our own. Over a few months and some working drinks/dinners we wrote our own. Not all deputies would have been up for doing that!
